BRASS’TON ART FESTIVAL
A must-visit Street and Urban Art Event taking place in Solesmes
The BRASS’TON ART FESTIVAL, organised by the WEEKEND’ARTISTES Association, will take place on May 24th and 25th, 2024, at the Brasserie de l’Abbaye in Solesmes, 55 rue de l’Abbaye. This unique event celebrates street and urban art, turning the brewery into a true artistic paradise, where walls become canvases and open-air galleries. The festival will be extended until June 29th, and it is going to welcome various audiences, including school groups and seniors. It will promote accessibility and artistic interaction under the motto “Art everywhere, Art for everyone”.
Festival objectives
This one-of-a-kind art event brings together street and urban art in a historical setting, and it aims to promote creativity and artistic expression in urban spaces. It provides a platform for artists, whether new or seasoned, to share their talent. The festival encourages interaction between artists, art enthusiasts, and the local community, and reinforces exchanges, both cultural and artistic.
Activities and Schedule
The festival offers a wide range of artistic and cultural activities:
- Art Performances: Participants will be able to watch artists in action during graffiti and street art performances. Talented artists from all around the world will gather to create unique art pieces that reflect their artistic vision and commitment to urban art.
- Exhibitions and Sales: An art sale will display paintings, screen prints, collages, and stencils.
- Free Workshops: Open workshops that will allow participants to pick up many different techniques such as screen printing and stencilling. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in artistic creation sessions, learn more about techniques used in urban art, and engage in discussions with the artists themselves.
Extra performances
- HIP-HOP Demonstrations and Battles: Street dance sessions and competitions will liven up the festival.
- ‘Back to the 80s’ Party: The festival will close with an 80s-themed party, featuring an open dance floor from 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM.
BRASS’TON ART FESTIVAL 2024 Schedule
Friday, May 24th: Opening Day (10:00 AM – 11:00 PM)
- 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM: Non-stop artistic performances, live creations, installations, and an art sale, featuring DJ music.
- 2:00 PM:
- Public reception.
- Reception of school groups to meet with artists and a free street art initiation workshop.
- 6:00 PM:
- Formal opening of the festival in the presence of officials (city office, CCPS, department, region).
- Inaugural speech and reception.
- 8:30 PM to 10:30 PM: “JUST RED & FRIENDS” Concert.
Saturday, May 25th: Second day of the festival (12:00 PM – 1:00 AM)
- 12:00 PM to 7:30 PM:
- Continuation of the art sale.
- Street art and graffiti performances.
- Street art beginner workshops.
- Food trucks and bar.
- 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM: HIP-HOP dance demonstration and battles.
- 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM: ‘Back to 80s’ Party with DJ, food trucks, and bar.
Activities in June 2024
- Thursdays and Fridays (2:00 PM to 4:30 PM):
- Visits for school groups and seniors with interactive explanations of the works and the exhibition.
- Saturdays, June 1st, 15th, and 29th:
- Open days for everyone to come visit and discover the exhibition.
- Saturday, June 29th: Festival closure with a celebration.
