Discover the Weekend’Artistes Creative Workshops: An Artistic Journey in Lille

Weekend’Artistes is dedicated to fostering creativity through a variety of art workshops in Lille. The artists’ commitment is reflected in their motto “hyperactive artistic and cultural expression”. Whether you’re an art lover, a professional looking to perfect your techniques, or a company looking for an artistic team-building activity, Weekend’Artistes offers a variety of choices for everyone. We offer workshops for these four art techniques: linocut, screen printing, gelpress and graffiti/stencilling.

Linocut: The Art of Engraving

Linocutting is an engraving technique in which the artist sculpts a linoleum plate to create a design in relief. Once the plate has been prepared, ink is applied to the carved surface, then paper is pressed onto the plate to transfer the image. Lino cutting can produce prints with fine detail and allows you to experiment with different textures and effects.

Screen printing: Express yourself in colour

Screen printing is a printing technique that uses stencils to transfer ink onto a medium – usually paper, fabric, or wood. Artists prepare stencils using silk or nylon screens stretched over a frame. The ink is then applied to the screen and pressed through the unblocked areas to create the desired image on the medium. This is a versatile technique that can be used to create high-quality prints on a variety of materials.

Gelpress: The Magic of Textures

The gelpress technique involves using a flexible gel plate as the printing medium. Artists apply paint or ink to the plate and then use various tools to create patterns and textures. Paper is then pressed onto the plate to transfer the image. This method lets you express yourself freely and creates one-of-a-kind prints every time.

Graffiti and Stencils: Urban Art in Your Hand

Graffiti stencils are designs cut from materials such as cardboard, plastic, or paper, enabling artists to quickly reproduce repetitive patterns or images on a variety of surfaces. Stencils are often used in conjunction with aerosols to create wall art or compositions on canvas. The technique is known for its simplicity and its ability to produce sharp, bold images.
